How To: Install a custom splash image on your HTC EVO 3D (Must be rooted with S-Off)

Installing a custom splash image on your HTC EVO 3D for rooted devices with S-off.

If you're not familiar with the term "splash image", you probably wouldn't be watching this video, however, just in case... the splash image is the image that appears when you first boot up your phone. It's appears right before the boot animation. The stock splash image on your EVO 3D is simply a white screen with a green "htc" logo on it.

A lot of our awesome devs and designers in the modding community have actually created custom splash images that we can easily flash on our phones. This video demonstrates an easy way to flash a custom splash image on your phone. Essentially, it's the same procedure for flashing a radio zip file, recovery, etc.

**Please note that this tutorial is for educational purposes only. If for any reason you happen to turn your phone into an expensive paperweight by following this tutorial, it is your fault and your fault alone. I cannot, and will not, be held responsible for any misfortunes caused by you following this tutorial. You have been warned**

Instructions:

- Download the splash image zip file you wish to show up on your device.

- Place it on the root of your sdcard and make sure you rename it PG86IMG.zip

- Go into your phone settings and, under "Power", make sure "Fast boot" is not checked.

- Power down your phone until it's completely turned off.

- Once off, power it back up again by first holding "Volume Down" + "Power" and don't let go until you get into your bootloader screen.

- From there, your bootloader is going to scan for the PG86IMG.zip file that you had placed on the root of your SDcard.

- Once it finds it, it's going to ask if you'd like to install the file. Confirm this by pressing the "Volume-up" button or to cancel the operation press "Volume-down". If you chose to continue, wait for the the operation to complete.
** WARNING - DO NOT INTERUPT THIS PROCESS AS IT MAY HAVE NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES ON YOUR DEVICE**

- Once the entire process has been completed press the "Power" button to reboot your phone and you should see your shiny new custom splash image in all its heavenly glory.
